Andrew was patient. I was on the dance team and had to perform during one of the football games with a school dance to follow. I had my dress and supplies ready to change into after the performance. Andrew was my date. During the routine I completely bit it and fell in the mud. I was a mess. Teenage girl Mandy fell apart, of course I thought it was the end of the world. I remember how patient Andrew was driving me home to get cleaned up.
Andrew was brilliant. Not only because of advanced classes and high test scores, but his mind worked like nothing I have ever seen. With brilliance comes stubbornness. Sometimes he did not make the best decisions, but it was not because he was not smart!
Andrew was kind. My first year in college he attended Auburn and would send me hand written letters checking in to see how I was doing. Anytime I was having a bad day, I knew I could call him to cheer me up...I can still hear him on the other end of the phone "Hey Mandy-Man!".
It is for all of these reasons that I know he was an amazing husband and father. His son Ethan will be one on May 24, 2012 and he was one lucky little boy to have Andrew in his life for those 10 months. While it pains me that we lost touch over the years it also fills me with happiness that I was able to love and be loved by someone so special. May you rest in peace Andrew.
