2013 Spring Break-Friends with Kids

Sunday, April 7, 2013

The four men in the above picture could not be more different (from where they live to what they do). Thankfully they were in the same fraternity in college because these four guys are not only great friends but as an added bonus they each married well (meaning I love their wives). For the end of our 2013 Spring Break adventure, Droessler, Kraus, and Jared (left to right) all made the effort to come in from San Francisco, Manhattan, and Brooklyn to not only hang out at the beach, but also introduce us to their adorable children. We had a blast!

Meet Finn (Emily and Matt Kraus's son)

Meet Abbie (Chrissie and Matt Droessler's daughter)

Meet Louis (Carrie and Jared Simon's son)

We hung out at the beach

had some adult time
and cheered on the Cards to victory

UPDATE: After riding in the car with Duncan for over 12 hours today, I am happy to report that he was amazing!  In this video he is singing his version of "We Are Young" by Fun. You must watch until the end...cracks me up everytime!

And while it makes me sad that this is the final 2013 Spring Break post, I could not have imagined a more perfect vacation with the family....

See ya this summer Sea Island!

2013 Spring Break-Terror

Friday, April 5, 2013

Devil
Angel

There has been no shortage of fun down here at the beach. We have climbed trees, (tried) to fly kites, watched movies, and have spent a lot of time in the pool.

Even with all of this fun, I am going to let you in on a little secret...Duncan has been a terror. From his "noooooooo" to "stop that" to poking people in the eyes to wailing around like a lunatic when trying to put him in the stroller. The kid has officially owned up to his nickname "Crazy D".

We were having lunch today. Both boys were eating so nicely when Duncan decided that it was time to get up and run around. While watching him act a fool I looked at Patrick and said "what in the world happened to our sweet, sweet boy?". Without even hesitating for one second, Wip looked up at me and with all seriousness said "hey Mom, I am right here".

2013 Spring Break-Sightseeing

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Sightseeing can mean different things to different people. Each of us have had our own version of sightseeing this week. Let me explain...

After the bike ride, still smiling
For me, it was the bike ride that we took last night as the sun was setting.  Looking out over the marsh was a sight to see!

For Wip, it was going up to the Cloister and seeing the birds. Check out this video of pure joy in his face!
For Duncan, it was sightseeing at the pool, he likes to stare at random people and the pool gave him plenty of options. Some think it is cute, others think it is creepy.
Staring at his first victim

Side note: Wip had these goggles on for an hour before he even got in the pool
For Patrick, it was hanging out with PGA golf pro Charles Howell III. His kids were playing with our kids in the pool. It was pretty cool.

2013 Spring Break-The Perfect Day

Monday, April 1, 2013

Let me explain my perfect day. It is a day in which I have a balance between spending time with my boys and having time for myself. Today was my perfect day.

It started when we tried out the big boy bed for Duncan. Not only did it work, but he slept until 8:30am!

The morning was spent playing and reading books and playing some more.

After Daddy got home from his run we walked up to the beach club

Afternoon was my time. I went for a run, got a massage from the sweet gift card left by my father in law, and and then went to the fitness center where I steamed, showered, and sipped on some hot tea. So pretty much, the perfect day...I can't wait to see what the rest of the week holds!
