Stock Market Day

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Our day was like the stock market.  It had its ups and downs.

We started out with a great 9 month wellness check up for Duncan.  He weighs 20 pounds (50%), is 29 5/8 inches (92%), and his head circumference is 18 3/4 in (95%)...like father like son!  Nurse Sue said that he is right on target with everything and he did not even cry during his finger prick.  He is the best.
Happy Baby
When we got home from the doctor we had a special package at the door from Grams's friend Beth Jackson!  A special circus picnic blanket that will be perfect for spring afternoons at the park.

Thank you Beth!

Brothers playing
Then the day started to go downhill. After trying to put the boys down for a nap (unsuccessfully) I left the oven burning while tending to a crying baby and the entire house became a smokey mess. Wip spilled an entire jar of enchilada sauce on his shirt (that I just put him in) when trying to "help" me make a casserole for Kristen and Bob (they just had Baby Everett on Friday!). After cleaning Wip up and getting both boys dressed for an afternoon with their friends, Duncan was trying to keep up with his brother and fell on his tooth and got a bloody lip.  Shooowee, I am exhausted just typing that.
Poor little man
We ended the day with our best friends at Henry's Ark (not mamas favorite place, but hey its for the kids).

Watch out for the creepy emu!
Just like the stock market you have good moments and bad, but I would trade any of it for the world.

$#*! Wip Says

Monday, March 12, 2012

Today we passed a toy store (Playthings) and Wip pointed out that his Mimi took him there.  He then proceeded to tell me that "he did not wanna yak".  I busted out laughing and said "what?!" He further explained that he did not want a yak, but he wanted a rhino at the toy store. Shoowee.

A little later in the day he began talking about Uncle Scotty and Auntie.  He told me that Auntie was having a baby boy.  I agreed.  He then told me that "Auntie's baby was in her belly button".  This kid is hilarious.

Pretty flowers.  Thank you Kristen!
The season is not the only thing changing, the Mulloy boys seem to be changing every day.

We've moved to a big boy chair and highchair for meals!

Spring Fashion Week (he is officially in a 3T!)

This little chunky monkey is in 12 month
Finally, this video not only shows that Duncan is determined to be on his feet, but also what a sweet big brother Wip can be. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday John!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Who was the most excited at John Speiden's birthday party?  Uncle Omar!  He could not get over all of the bouncy equipment and the fact that you did not have to be glued to your child.  It was pretty funny.

John Speiden is 3.  Hard to believe but true.  This is one of the sweetest little boys that I have ever met and I can't wait to see what the John and Wip friendship holds.  I hope that these two stay good friends forever.

Grandparents

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

While shopping at Fresh Market today a sweet lady was going "ga ga" over my boys (who can blame her?).  She then got a little embarrassed and sheepishly commented that it was the "grandparent in her" to talk to children.

This got me thinking...Wip and Duncan have some pretty amazing grandparents.  It is not only all that they do for them (driving up from Lexington (all of the time:), making sure they look their "Easter best", bringing new books to read to them, having a baseball stand as Wip calls it (aka basketball goal) put in for future fun, providing one of the best snack selections for afternoons with Mimi...gees the list could go on and on).

While Patrick and I appreciate everything that these four amazing people provide, I think it makes me the happiest to see all four go "ga ga" over these two special munchkins.

Needlepoint Belt Curse is Broken

Growing up in Lexington it seemed everyone caught the needlepoint belt craze.

While I never did the "spend tons of money and time on a needlepoint belt for your boyfriend only to break up" belt, one summer when I was a lifeguard at Constitution Pool I made myself a puzzle needlepoint belt.

After working the entire summer on it (during my breaks of course) I put it in my mom's car to have it leathered.  One day she came home with a new car.  I remember running out and the first thing I asked was "did you get my belt out of the trunk?".  I don't think she even knew it was back there and hence my summer project was gone and while a boy did not break up with me, it almost felt worse.

Fast forward 19 years.  When Wip was just a baby I started a trucks needlepoint belt for him that I would mainly work on when we were at the beach. He is now almost 3, and I am proud to announce that the belt is complete. I must say that it looks pretty darn cute on him.

Happy Birthday Quinn!

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Quinn had his 3rd birthday party at the Harrods Creek fire station.  It was so much fun.  Fire Chief Tara went all out with pin the spot on the dalmatian, hot potato (with a toy fire truck), design your own goody bag, and story time.  The menu included mini sloppy joes, pigs in a blanket, "hot" tots, and doggy bone shaped cookies (with some fruit for good measure:). The best part was seeing a fireman get dressed and then going on the fire truck!
