While swimming in the pool yesterday Wip bumped his chin on the stairs. He cried for maybe one second and was back in the water. As we were leaving the pool he informed me that "something bit him". When I looked down he was talking about a gash on his chin from the stairs. We had the lifeguard look at it, stuck on a band aid and he was fine.
Fast forward a few hours later when Mimi was told. She recommended that if it still looked like a gash we should really take him to the ER. Of course Mimi knows best. Four hours later in the ER, Wip came home with a glued up chin and the doctor said that we made the right move...not life threatening but definitely something that needed to be closed up.

Waiting in the ER for over 4 hours! |
I told Wip because he was so "brave" at the hospital (and the doctor said that he could not get in the pool/ocean) that we would take him to see Brave the movie. The movie was ehhh. I was underwhelmed. Not that you asked, but all of the men in the movie were buffoons (not one redeeming quality in one) and the story was a little strange (girls rebelling against mothers and turning them into bears). There was one scene in the movie in which Mereda (main character) is finally bonding with her mother (who was a bear). It was a pretty touching mother/daughter (or in my case mother/child) scene. I have no idea where it came from but during the scene Wip just leaned over and ever so slightly kissed me on the cheek. I asked him what that was for and he just shrugged his tan little shoulders and continued watching the movie. Just another one of those moments I will cherish forever.
He is going to be just fine. He has to be. We have big plans for the rest of the week of parade decorating, bike riding, pool/ocean swimming, BBQ/Bluegrass music partying.
