I'd like to thank Richard Scarry

Monday, February 27, 2012

I think my kid is pretty smart (go ahead, roll your eyes). Mrs. Bobbie Thomason (Patrick's first grade teacher) bought the Richard Scarry book "Best Word Book Ever" when Wip was a baby.  He LOVES it and has practically worn the book out from "reading" it so much.  I have picked up a couple of things that Wip talks about that he could have only learned from Richard Scarry.

For example, on the way home from a doctor check up today Wip said "we have been to the doctor, and now we need to go to the supermarket for some food, and then the bakery for some cookies".  It was almost as if he had a to do list in his carseat (boy after my own heart).  If you have ever read "Best Book Word Book Ever" you would know that there is a section about a doctor, supermarket, and a bakery.

Another example comes from Wip talking about what else?  Animals.  Wip loves to run through all of the animals that he knows (the list keeps growing!).  When he was going over the list he mentioned pigs, ducks, cows, horses, and then informs me that those animals live on a farm.  The list continues with zebras, elephants, lilons (lions), rhinos, and those animals (you guessed it) live in the zoo.  Once again there is a section in the book for Farm Animals and Zoo Animals.

I just hope his love of "reading" continues.

Sick Little Boy

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Why is it that the short weeks always seem longer?

Duncan has RSV and a double ear infection.  He is wheezy, coughy, and snotty. It stinks.  The doctor prescribed breathing treatments, warm baths, Tylenol for the fever, and lots of TLC.

I asked Wip to help me give Duncan a bath and he said "we make him feel better".

Other loves

Monday, February 20, 2012

I have to admit that I have other loves in my life. They are the sweet, sweet boys of my little sister. I have had the pleasure of visiting with them this weekend and here is a sneak peak. Lucas could not be a sweeter big brother and Hunter is the best baby ever, I would walk the earth for these boys.

Chet Gerdts

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Today marks a very sad day. Chet Gerdts, one of Patrick's godfathers has passed away. He suffered cancer and then after treatment developed a rare condition that he was not able to win. He will always be remembered as a wonderful man, father, godfather, and friend. May he rest in peace. I am so thankful that I was not only able to hear the NYC stories about Uncle Chet but also that I was able to meet him for dinner in his home and more importantly that Wip was able to have dinner with him in Colorado Springs, CO. May you rest in peace and suffer no more, we will miss you always Uncle Chet.

Happy Heart Day

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Valentine's Day for the adults included fish tacos from Bazo's, an episode of Downton Abby, and bed before 10pm.  Pretty exciting huh?

But...

Valentine's Day for Wip included a rockin' party with his turtle friends, tons of sweet valentines, lunch with his mommy at McDonalds (even though he wanted a PB&J), and watching Beauty and the Beast.  Now that is more like it. Here are a few pictures from the rockin' party:

Moves Like Jagger

There are two things about this video that make me smile.

#1. I realize that Duncan may be a chunk, but he is flexible.

#2. It cuts off before you can see it but when Wip comes up to Duncan you can see Duncan get very excited and he looks up with a big smile on his face. He is looking up to his big brother and I hope that continues.

Confession Time

Sunday, February 12, 2012

I have a confession to make, I don't correct Wip when he says something incorrectly.  I figure it will work itself out and I want to hold on to this age for as long as possible.

Here are a few of my favorites:

French Fries = Foo Fries
Lemonade = Lemalade
Spoon = Poon
Sticky = Ticky
Sesame Seeds = Sefame Seed
Its a Small World After All = It a paa world afer nall
Toy Story = Toy Tory

My next confession is obvious. I think Duncan is a really cute baby.  Here is the proof:

Daddy

Friday, February 10, 2012

Today marks a very special day.  It is our daddy and husband's birthday! It is because of his patience, humor, and love that we are so thankful that he was born on this day 32 years ago.  We love you Daddy!

He got it (almost) right

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Yesterday I asked Wip if Auntie and Uncle Scotty would have a little girl or little boy.

His response "Auntie will have a little girl and Uncle Scotty will have a boy".

Well...

IT'S A BOY!
Y'all are going to be pretty amazing parents

We are tickled blue.

Life of a Mulloy Boy

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

It has been a busy week.  Swim lessons, full on crawling, bouncy time, and puppet shows.

Wip continues to make us laugh.  Last night I told him that he needed to pick up his toys from the floor when he was finished playing.  He looked up at me completely serious and said "that is a deal!".

The Optimist

Sunday, February 5, 2012

If I ask Wip if his best friend at school is Dagny or Jack he will say "Dagny AND Jack".

If I ask him who would win if mommy and daddy ran in a race, Wip would respond "mommy AND daddy".

It was only logical that I asked him who would win the Super Bowl. You guessed it, his response was "Patriots AND Giants".

If only life worked this way for such a fair little fella.

Special Hot Dog, Please

Friday, February 3, 2012

This week Wip received a note home with a sticker. We told him that if he received two additional good reports then he could have a toy or a special hot dog (from Lonnie's).
This was the second report of the week. It was really just a note to let us know he got his pants wet.
When he saw me pull out the note from his backpack, he quickly informed me that it said "Wip was a good boy, and kept his hands to himself".  How could I argue with that? All we needed was one more note for a special hot dog.

We received our third note today.
Someone really enjoyed their special hot dog!
