Sea Island in December

Friday, December 30, 2011

Sea Island holds a special place in my heart.  We are so fortunate to head down after Christmas for a week of relaxing, reading, and reflecting.  Patrick and I also get to celebrate our anniversary each year in the same place that we got married.

A lot has changed in five years.  We now have a toy closet, crib with wheels, a beautifully renovated home, high definition TVs, and instead of going to the Beach Club for cocktails we are there for the playground.

I could watch this 100 times a day.

My Buddy

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

When I was a little girl the "it" doll was My Buddy.  I will forever remember the commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBOpmDFACXQ. I kept thinking of that song today when we had a playdate with Wip's friend Quinn.

Wip was in heaven

Quinn and Wip
Quinn goes to the Temple with Wip and even though they are not in class together they have become buddies in the morning room before school starts.  Quinn's mommy invited us to join them for a music class and then lunch at Chucky Cheese pizza. They had a blast!

Scooby Dooby Doo

Monday, December 19, 2011

Wip makes me laugh everyday. After nap he will sometimes ask to have a snack.  Lately he has been obsessed with graham crackers shaped as dog bones.  He will say "may I please have some scooby dooby snacks?".  For some reason it makes me giggle.

Baby Jesus

Mary, Joseph, and Jesus
He made mama proud

Grandaddy and his boys
Duncan was a star tonight. He did a fantastic job playing the role of Jesus. After the pageant we went to Mimi and Granddaddy's house for chili. Wip took a bell and started ringing it and said "I am ringing this for Baby Jesus" and walked over to Duncan. He was a proud big brother.

Here we go...

Let the fun begin.  Over the break we are going to attempt to have Wip transition from diapers to big boy underpants.  Wish us luck!

Chilling at East Louisville

Too sleepy to finish his prunes
Duncan was sick all week.  It started with a 103.4 temperature (that freaked me out).  Dr. Church said that he thought it was the coxsackie virus.  After a roller coaster of high temperatures (up to 104) and just a miserable baby boy, we went back to the doctor on Thursday and discovered an ear infection (yeah for antibiotics!).  He must have known that he is playing the most important role in the Christmas pageant on Sunday because he is feeling much better!

The Best Day

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

When I was pregnant with Wip I would listen to The Best Day by Taylor Swift and sob (leave it to those pregnancy hormones).  I would sit and think about how I would try my hardest to give my children "the best day" always.  Yesterday (even though our littlest man was sick) I had "the best day" with Wip.  We played in the leaves, kicked around the soccer ball, and attempted to jump rope (he does not have that one figured out yet).  At one point we were "throwing the leaves up to the sky" and he ran over with his arms open wide and gave me the biggest hug and said "I love you mommy".  It was not prompted, was not forced, and was not fake.  It was a moment I will cherish forever.

2011-12 Turtle Class

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Let me introduce you to Wip's class.  (top left:  Ms. Tara and Ms. Marie, Wip, Israel, Owen, Abby, Skye, Hayden, Ajay, Araya, Kate, Casper, Jaaaaack, Dagny, and Addie.  I am wondering if the first three boys on the top row might be the infamous "Three Musketeers".
